BEER CAN CHICKEN

For a whole family chicken

Infuse your chicken with all the moisture and flavour of your favourite beer, producing delicious, tender and soft white meat that will delight the whole family.

PREPARE THE INGREDIENTS

  • 1 whole chicken (1.8 - 2.7 kg)
  • 1 can of your favourite beer
  • Barbecue sauce
  • Seasoning / spices of your choice

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS

1. Preheat your pellet grill to 180 °C. Remember to close the deflector properly.

2. Open the can and pour half the beer into a glass (for your personal consumption!). Leave the other half in the can, piercing a few extra holes in the top of the can to increase the ventilation. Add the barbecue sauce and a little seasoning to the can with the beer. 

3. Remove the insides of the chicken if necessary, rinse thoroughly, and dry with a paper towel. Brush the chicken generously with olive oil, then sprinkle the rest of the seasoning inside and outside the chicken. 

4. Let the chicken sit for at least 15 minutes with the seasoning on top.

5. Carefully slide the upright can into the empty chicken cavity so that there is a snug fit. Tuck the chicken wings behind the bird's back then place the bird vertically on the grill and close the lid. 

6. Cook until the chicken is golden brown and crisp and the internal temperature reaches 82 °C in the thickest part of the meat (the breast or thigh) 

7. Using tongs, carefully remove the chicken from the grill with the can in an upright position. Let it sit for five minutes, then carefully remove the can from the chicken. Be careful not to spill anything as the liquid will be hot

8. Cut the chicken and serve.

VARIATION: CHICKEN WITH ALCOHOL-FREE DRINK

Follow the same method described above, but instead of beer use your favourite drink such as cola, fruit juice or water with additional seasonings.
