Bouquet de rose bacon dans vase

BOUQUET OF A DOZEN ROSES WITH BACON

Sometimes the path to your loved one's heart is through their appetite. And what better way to satisfy their hunger than with some bacon? If your lover says they like roses – but you know deep down what they really want – try this bacon rose recipe for a fun and unusual little gift (and one that is also a tasty appetiser). What's more, your partner will be a hit on Instagram when they post the out-of-the-ordinary "roses" you made for them for Valentine's Day!

The strips of bacon need to be wrapped and kept in place using small wooden sticks (or sturdy toothpicks) while they're being smoked on your pellet grill. Afterwards you can place the bacon on false rose stems and surprise your loved one with an authentic gift they can eat!

PREPARE THE INGREDIENTS

  • 24 toothpicks (or small wooden sticks)
  • 12 slices of bacon
  • 1 pretty flower vase
  • 12 artificial roses
  • A few sprigs of baby's breath

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS

1.Start your pellet grill on "SMOKE" with the lid open until the flames take hold in the combustion chamber (5-7 minutes). Preheat your grill to 110 °C.

2. Roll each piece of bacon together very tightly, starting with the thickest side of the slice. Take a small wooden stick (or solid toothpick) and skewer it in the middle of the bottom of the bacon roll, making sure that the bacon slice doesn't unwind. Use a second stick to skewer the bacon roll again so that the two sticks form an X at the base of the bacon roll (see the illustration below). Do the same thing for each piece of bacon.

3. Place the bacon rolls directly on the grill of your preheated BBQ and smoke for one hour, checking every 20 minutes.

4. While the bacon is smoking, remove the petals from the false roses but keep the stem.

5. Once the bacon is fully cooked, remove the toothpicks and pierce the bacon at the head of the stem (in place of the old petals). If the bacon doesn't stay in place, use solid toothpicks again to pierce the false stalk and the bacon petals on each side.

6. Put the 12 edible roses in a pretty vase, and decorate your bouquet with a few sprigs of baby's breath (artificial or real) and give this gourmet, original gift to your Valentine.

TIP

You might want to buy some real roses just in case…
